Turkey Prepares for Disasters! First Meeting of the National Risk Shield Model Tomorrow

The first meeting of the Turkish National Risk Shield Model, which was created to help Turkey be prepared for natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and droughts, will be held at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Office tomorrow.

Turkey experienced the darkest morning in its history on February 6th.

Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 that occurred in the morning hours in Kahramanmaraş destroyed an entire region.

As a result of the severe earthquake that hit 11 provinces, more than 45 thousand citizens lost their lives.

While the cities turned into a pile of rubble, the state mobilized all its resources from the first moments of the disaster.

While everyone from all over Turkey, from 7 to 70, took responsibility, the needs of the earthquake victims were met.

On the one hand, steps are taken to solve the temporary housing problem, and on the other hand, efforts are being made to build permanent housing.

Attention was drawn to the Marmara Earthquake

In addition to the devastating earthquakes experienced, large-scale aftershocks and the possible Marmara earthquake once again demonstrated the importance of being prepared for an earthquake.

These preparations include constructing infrastructure, housing, workplaces and safe settlements before an earthquake, carrying out the most effective emergency aid works in case of an earthquake, and covering the wounds for emergency shelter, food and health needs.

Turkey to Prepare for Disasters

Regarding the work to be done in this context, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the Turkish National Risk Shield Model will be created at the Parliamentary Group Meeting of his party yesterday.

Turkey’s National Risk Shield Model is an organization that aims to make cities more prepared for disasters such as earthquakes, floods and droughts.

Disaster and Post-Disaster Steps Will Be Discussed

In the Turkish National Risk Shield Model, in which the precautions to be taken before the disaster in priority and potentially risky regions will be comprehensively reviewed under the headings of earthquake, flood, landslide, drought and forest fire, the steps to be taken during the disaster and the post-disaster will also be discussed.

First Meeting Tomorrow

The Turkish National Risk Shield Model preliminary meeting will be held tomorrow at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Office in Istanbul.

The meeting to be held under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan will be coordinated by the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum.
