Treasure Hunter Found 2.6 lbs of Gold!

An Australian man managed to find a 4.6 kg piece of rock containing $160,000 worth of gold in Victoria, a former gold mine.

A gold hunter searching the gold deposits in Victoria, Australia with a metal detector, found a 4.6 kilogram piece of rock with thousands of dollars’ worth of gold on it. It was stated that the gold found by the unnamed person was worth 160 thousand dollars (approximately 3 million liras).

“SOMETHING TO FIND ONCE IN A LIFE”

Darren Kamp, who sold prospecting equipment and purchased the boulder at a shop near Melbourne, said it was the largest specimen he had seen in his 43-year career. Expressing that the gold hunter brought him half of the rock he found, Kamp said, “I am very surprised. It is something that can be found once in a lifetime.” Stating that there was about 2.6 kilograms of gold in the rock, Darren Kamp said that the person who found the gold wanted to spend the money for his family.

While discoveries like this are rare, Australia is estimated to have the world’s largest gold reserves, and many of the world’s largest nuggets have been found in Australia.
