TikTok One Step Closer to US Ban: Bill Sent to Biden!
While the answer to the question of whether TikTok will be banned in the United States is being wondered, an important bill was sent to Biden. Here are the details!
While the TikTok debate has been going on for a long time in the United States of America (USA), there has been an important development. A vote was held in the House of Representatives to ban the popular social media service and the majority vote was for a ban.
The latest development was the submission of the bill to US President Biden. When the ban started to be discussed, Biden said that he would approve the bill when it went to him.
What is the Latest Situation for TikTok Ban in the US?
A vote was held in the House of Representatives while rumors continued that the social media platform owned by the China-based ByteDance company posed a national security threat. 352 people voted yes, while 65 people voted no.
According to the bill voted, the company was given 180 days, but then this period was extended. During this time, TikTok would be banned in the US if it was not sold to a different company. In this context, US citizens will not be able to access TikTok through the App Store and Play Store. It is thought that the web version of the service will also be banned.
The bill, which was approved in the House of Representatives, was also voted in the Senate and approved by 79 votes. With the approval, the bill was sent to Biden for his signature this morning. US President Joe Biden will sign the bill into law.
“If Congress approves this bill, I will sign it,” Biden said last week. Once the bill is signed, ByteDance will have one year to sell TikTok. If the platform is not sold in this one-year period, it will be completely banned in the US.
