Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made a statement on the issue that has been on the agenda for a while. After the meeting, Şimşek announced the measures to be implemented within the scope of austerity measures in the public sector.

Among the aforementioned measures, the topic that fell like a bomb on the agenda was the ban on the purchase of foreign vehicles in the public sector. Public employees will now be completely banned from using foreign brand cars.

Using Togg Will Be Mandatory

According to one of the decisions on austerity measures in the public sector, the use of foreign vehicles will be completely banned. This rule will not apply only in Defense and Security areas. Apart from that, the ban will apply in areas with public transportation, including personnel shuttle services.

It was announced that cars that are surplus and have completed their economic life will be liquidated and it was said that the domestic car Togg will be used in places where there is a need for vehicles.

Mehmet Şimşek made the following statements on the subject: “We stop buying and leasing new vehicles in the public sector for 3 years. The use of foreign-origin vehicles will be banned except for those authorized by law. In addition, the renewal of existing leased vehicle contracts will be subject to authorization.”
