A new report published by the Turkish Statistical Institute has revealed the most used social media applications in Turkey.
Social media usage in Turkey is increasing day by day. Today, almost everyone from 7 to 70 uses platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok. Moreover, even basic communication is provided via WhatsApp, which is in the social media application category.

The Most Used Social Media Applications in Turkey Has Been Determined
According to TÜİK’s research, WhatsApp was the most preferred social media application in Turkey as of 2024. In our country, 86.2 per cent of smartphone users use WhatsApp and provide basic communication through this application.
In the research, YouTube ranked second with 71.3 per cent, while Instagram ranked third with a usage rate of 65.4 per cent. To make a comparison, in another TÜİK report published in 2022, WhatsApp ranked first with 82 per cent, YouTube was second with 67 per cent and Instagram was third with 57 per cent.
Although the ranking has not changed, as you can see, the usage rate has increased. This is the biggest indicator that smartphones and social media platforms have become widespread from 7 to 70.
