The Map Has Grown, New York Has Been Recreated: Spider-Man 2 is Coming
Spider-Man 2 is coming with an expanded map and a new map of New York to explore. The release date has been announced. Here are all the details!
Three new Spider-Man 2 screenshots have been released, showing the various locations players will be able to visit in the upcoming sequel. The New York Times published part of its piece focusing on the game’s recreation of New York City.
Times Square, Coney Island, Brooklyn
“This time we’ve added Queens and Brooklyn, so roughly speaking the map size is about twice as big as in previous games,” said Bryan Intihar, creative director at Insomniac Games.
“These two areas are a little bit smaller and residential, so I think you’ll find them different from Manhattan. We’ve prepared some unexpected situations that we haven’t done before, like a battle between two cities on the river, so I hope you’ll look forward to those,” Intihar added.
According to the New York Times, the Chrysler Building, which was featured in the 2018 Spider-Man movie but not the 2020 Miles Morales movie, is also not in the sequel due to Insomniac’s inability to secure a royalty deal with the building’s new owners.
Sony released the Spider-Man 2 special edition PS5 console bundle, console covers and DualSense controller earlier this month. Spider-Man 2 has a release date of October 20, 2023.
