The Date When South Korea Will Switch To 6G Has Been Announced
South Korea is reportedly planning to switch to 6G infrastructure in 2028 to play the lead in wireless communication technologies. 6G is expected to be 50 times faster than 5G technology.
In this context, it was noted that the government will try to take the lead in “wireless technology leadership” by putting the project, which will continue until 2030, two years ahead.
At the same time, it was stated that approximately 481 million dollars will be spent on research and development of the applicability of 6 G infrastructure technologies.
The government will give incentives to local firms to produce materials, parts and equipment, and to create a network accessible to all, the statement said.
In a statement made in 2020, the Seoul administration announced that they had determined their strategy for 6 G and that they would start pilot studies for the project in 2026.
The government was aiming to commercialize 6 G services between 2028 and 2030. With the new statement, it is certain that the service will start in 2028.
IT WILL BE 50 TIMES FASTER
The data download speed of 5G technology was theoretically determined as 20 Gbps. With 6 G, this speed will be 1 Tbps.
In other words, the speed offered by 6 G will be 50 times higher than 5G.
