Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently the game with the best Metacritic score of 2023.
According to Metacritic, Larian Studios’ highly successful RPG has achieved the highest review score of any other game released this year, and yes, that includes The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently in first place with a Metacritic score of 97, while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is in second place with a score of 96.

Rounding out the top 5 are Metroid Prime Remastered and The Witcher 3 – Wild Hunt: Complete Edition, both of which have a combined score of 94. Rounding out the top 5 are Tetris Effect: Connected and Resident Evil 4, both with 93 points.
It’s worth noting, though, that Baldur’s Gate 3’s 97 score comes from just 21 critical reviews, while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s 96 score came from 145 reviews, suggesting that the game’s position may change as more Baldur’s Gate 3 reviews come in.
Interestingly, Baldur’s Gate 3 is also leading in user scores. Larian’s highly anticipated sequel has garnered over 5000 user reviews and a score of 9.1.
