The 400 Richest Names Were Announced: 2 Turks On The List

Forbes magazine announced the list of the richest people in the USA. In 2023, a year in which especially technology giants won, two Turks were included in the Forbes 400 list.

Forbes Magazine published the Forbes 400 list of America’s richest people. Last year, there was a great depreciation in the fortunes of the owners of technology companies. This year, the opposite outlook emerged.

According to Forbes, America’s super-rich are on the rise again. After losing a total of $500 billion last year, the 400 richest people in the country have made it all back. This elite group is now worth a total of $4.5 trillion, beating a record set in 2021.

The biggest gainers during this period were technology companies. According to GazeteDuvar, half of the gains of the rich come from recovering technology stocks. Eight tech moguls added $10 billion or more to their fortunes.

There is also a remarkable name falling off the list; Donald Trump. The former president’s wealth fell by 19 percent to 2.6 billion dollars. In addition, the famous NBA player basketball player Michael Jordan was among those who found a place in the list with his rising fortune this year. Jordan ranked 379th on the list with a fortune of 3 billion dollars.

ELON MUSK AT THE TOP

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, Space X and Twitter, who has been at the center of controversy all year, who was the biggest money loser of last year, who was the target of great criticism for buying Twitter and changing his name to X, was at the top of the list despite all these.

Musk, who increased his fortune with the rise of technology companies this year after last year’s decline, managed to take the first step of the Forbes 400 with a fortune of 251 billion dollars.

The name that came after him was Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon. Bezos’ fortune was stated as 161 billion dollars in the list.

TWO TURKS ALSO ON THE LIST

Two Turks made the Forbes 400 list in 2023. Eren Özmen, ranked 338th with a fortune of $3.4 billion, and Fatih Özmen, ranked 345th with a fortune of $3.3 billion, are the owners of Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), a private aerospace and defense company.

SNC’s Dream Chaser spacecraft has been contracted by NASA for at least seven cargo missions to the International Space Station. In April 2021, SNC spun off its space capabilities led by Dream Chaser into a new commercial space company, Sierra Space.

Sierra Space, which raised $1.4 billion at a $4.5 billion valuation in November 2021, is preparing to launch the first flight of a cargo Dream Chaser called Tenacity in late 2023 or 2024.

Eren Ozmen and her husband Fatih Ozmen, both Turkish, bought SNC in 1994 when it had just 20 employees.
