BlankBot Malware Targets Turkish Android Users
It has been revealed that a malware called BlankBot is targeting Turkish Android users. The malware, which is similar to other trojans, can take screenshots on infected devices, record keyboard input and create fake pages to trick users into entering private information.
BlankBot is said to be still in development, which could pose a potential threat to Turkish users, if not now, then in the future. However, a Google official told The Hacker News that they have not found any apps in the Google Play Store that contain the trojan at the moment.
While the Google spokesperson’s statement is somewhat reassuring, one should still be cautious. There are dozens of malware that have escaped Google Play Store controls and infected devices before. Therefore, before downloading an app, it is important to think twice and make sure that the app is safe.
