Side Ancient City Flooded

Some areas of Side Ancient City in Antalya’s Manavgat district, where the General Directorate of Meteorology warned of the ‘orange code’ for last night, were under water.

After the meteorology’s warnings for Antalya, some parts of Side Ancient City in Manavgat were under water due to heavy rain.

After the rain that caused great material damage in Antalya’s Finike, Kumluca and Demre districts, the 4th Regional Directorate of Meteorology yesterday; An orange-coded warning has been issued for Serik, Manavgat and İbradı districts.

In the warning, heavy rain information was given and public institutions and organizations and citizens were warned. Antalya Provincial Directorate of National Education announced that education was suspended for one day on 14 December in schools at all levels in Manavgat, Serik and İbradi districts.

HEAVY RAIN STARTED NIGHT

As of midnight tonight, heavy rain started at around 03.00 in Manavgat, where the relevant public institutions and organizations are on high alert.

The puddles formed with the rain were prevented from growing by opening gratings by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department and Manavgat Municipality teams.

“BAD SITUATION HAS NOT HAPPENED”

Manavgat District Governor Abdülkadir Demir stated that after the warning of the 4th Regional Directorate of Meteorology, they held meetings with the managers of the relevant institutions to take the necessary precautions. Demir said, “So far, we have not received any bad news or information from institutions or our citizens.”

On the other hand, the Colonnaded Street and the area where the Tyke Temple is located in the Side Ancient City were submerged due to heavy rain.

After the heavy rain and storm warning made yesterday, the boats and motors in Side Harbor were pulled to safe places by their owners. The Temple of Apollo was also empty due to the rain.
