Samsung launches One UI 6 beta program based on Android 14

Samsung launched the One UI 6 beta program in its official announcement. The One UI 6 beta program, which first started with the Galaxy S23 series, also brings the Android 14 update.

While Samsung’s Unpacked event has come and gone, Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable phones have left us. With this major hardware launch coming to an end, Samsung is turning its eyes to software. The Android 14-based One UI 6 update has started to be released as beta for the Samsung Galaxy S23.

According to the press release from Samsung, many elements have been changed on the design front to create a more modern look and feel. This includes a new default font and new emojis that you can use from the Samsung Keyboard. The company has also updated the look of the Quick Panel so you can access frequently used features more easily.

As for customization, One UI 6 will let you choose specific lock screens tied to specific Modes and Routines, which is pretty similar to what can be done with iPhone’s lock screens and Focus modes. Unfortunately, the One UI 6 beta will only be available on the Galaxy S23 series to start with. However, the beta program has not been opened globally. According to Samsung, if you’re currently in the US, Germany or South Korea, you can upgrade to the One UI 6 beta starting today.
