Russian state tech firm bans Apple
Rostec, Russia’s state-run military-industrial company, said its employees are prohibited from using devices designed by US tech giant Apple.
“In all establishments of the company, a complete ban is imposed on the use of devices of the American manufacturer in the process of work,” Rostec’s press service told Tass News Agency.
Founded in 2007 by order of Putin, the holding currently unites more than 800 research and production organizations in the defense sector across Russia.
The telegram channel Mash previously reported that the ban on Apple devices was imposed only on Shvabe, one of the holdings of Rostec and specializing in optoelectronic systems.
However, the restrictions turned out to be a comprehensive measure for the entire company.
Russia’s Federal Security Service said last month that the CIA has installed malware on thousands of iPhones used by Russian citizens and foreign diplomats working in the country.
It has been claimed that Apple provides American intelligence services with a wide range of opportunities to investigate individuals of White House interest.
