New Update for PS5: It’s Now Possible to Connect Directly to Discord!
Discord integration is getting easier with the new update to PS5. You will now be able to join Discord calls directly from the console. Here are the details!
Sony is significantly strengthening Discord integration for the PS5. With the new update, users will now be able to join Discord calls directly from the console. This step brings the PlayStation experience closer to Xbox.
Discord Integration Update for PS5
Discord support, launched last year, currently requires PS5 users to transfer calls to the console via mobile or PC. Sony is rolling out an update that integrates Discord directly within the PS5 control center. This will allow users to select the server or direct message group they want to join.
The update will begin rolling out to PS5 owners in Japan and Asia in the coming weeks, followed by Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and finally the US and Canada.
To take advantage of the new Discord integration, you will need to update your PS5 with the latest system software and link your PlayStation Network account to your Discord account.
According to Sabrina Meditz, director of product management for PlayStation platform experience, this update will allow PS5 users to participate in Discord calls more quickly and directly.
It’s almost on par with Microsoft’s Discord support on Xbox, making communication between players easier and more integrated.
Sony is also introducing the ability to share your PlayStation Network profile on any messaging or social app. With a new share profile option in the PlayStation mobile app, users will be able to easily add friends by creating a shareable link or QR code.
