New Taxi Prototype To Be Used In Istanbul Introduced
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) introduced the prototype of the first taxi converted from minibus and minibus in order to find a solution to traffic.
Following the decision taken at UKOME, more than 1,803 minibuses and 322 minibuses will be converted into taxis. The first prototype of minibuses and minibuses that turn into taxis was introduced in the car park of the İBB Bakırköy Service Building.
Accordingly, the vehicle will have a panic button for the driver, and if pressed, the phrase ‘S.O.S’ will appear on the headlights. Seeing the S.O.S letter, the police will stop the vehicle and intervene.

There will be cameras inside the taxis and an inspection will be made on the images inside the taxi at the Public Transport Control and Management Center. Taxis will charge 30 percent more than the yellow taxi fare. If the taxi driver has been involved in crime 3 times, the taxi license plate will revert to the state it was before the conversion.
