New Mercury photos from NASA

The American Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA shared with the public the latest photographs of Mercury, the closest planet in the Solar System to the Sun. Mercury’s colors attracted public attention.

The American Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shared photos of Mercury on its social media account. The photo was accompanied by a caption that included a lyric from Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s hit song “Murder on the Dancefloor”.

The 2000 song gained popularity thanks to its use in the final scene of the 2024 movie Saltburn, starring Barry Keoghan.

Responding to NASA’s post, Sophie Ellis-Bextor said: “I’m so proud to have my song mentioned next to such an amazing planet, Mercury in the Disco retort.”

NASA continues to receive new images from the planet Mercury. Project Mercury was the NASA program that sent the first American astronauts into space. Astronauts made a total of six space flights during Project Mercury.

Two of these flights reached space and landed immediately. The other four entered orbit and circled the Earth.

The first of these six flights took place in 1961 and the last in 1963.
