New Feature on WhatsApp Groups: “Expired Groups”
New Feature on WhatsApp Groups: “Expired Groups”
WhatsApp continues to develop new features related to groups. Here are the details about the “Expiring groups” feature!
One of the things that makes Meta’s messaging service so popular is that it’s constantly developing new group chat features, and the new feature for group chats called “Expiring Groups” is intended to solve the common problem.
This term refers to groups that are set up temporarily to hold a one-time event, such as a birthday, that lose their usefulness after that event. Such groups can cause unnecessary confusion in the app and distract members if others in the group are still chatting.
No More Inactive Groups
WhatsApp is clearly aware of this issue, as another beta discovery from WABetaInfo shows. A new “Expired Groups” setting will allow users to set a specific expiration date for WhatsApp groups. The descriptive text of the UI option reads: “When enabled, you will be prompted to clear groups on expiration dates.” statement is included.
“When this feature becomes available, users will be able to choose from a variety of expiration options, such as a day, a week, or a special date, and remove a predetermined expiration date if they change their mind.” WABetaInfo states that the option is for individuals and “not available to other group participants” he also added.
This feature is included in version 23.5.0.71 released by WhatsApp developers through the TestFlight Beta Program. It’s unclear when the feature will become available, but it’s being actively developed, which is good news for users with multiple group memberships.
