New Earthquake Warning: ‘Hatay May Not Have Experienced the Main Earthquake Yet’

prof. Dr. Süleyman Pampal said, “This fault continues to the south of Hatay as the Dead Sea fault. There is an earthquake of up to 8 magnitudes in the direction of Syria, Lebanon and Israel, this fault is that fault. In other words, even the part inside our borders has not been completely broken.”

Geological engineer Prof. Dr. Süleyman Pampal made evaluations about the Hatay earthquake in a program he attended on TV.

Pampal said, “Actually, Hatay may not have experienced its main earthquake yet, unfortunately,” and added:

“We have constantly emphasized the existence of danger. In fact, Hatay may still not have experienced its main earthquake, unfortunately. This Kahramanmaras earthquake, Pazarcık earthquake, approached Hatay and descended to the vicinity of Kırıkhan, but there are many places to break below, almost half of it remains. In other words, we said that there are other faults between Malatya fault, Ovacık fault and Karlıova around Bingöl, below and in the north.”

‘THE DANGER IN THE REGION WAS NOT PASSED’

Drawing attention to the dangers in the region, Prof. Dr. Süleyman Pampal said, “This was not an unexpected situation. It was on what we call the Antakya fault. That area is still a high-risk area. “This fault is 1000 kilometers, and the rupture continues in the north and south of the fault,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Süleyman Pampal made the following statements in the continuation of his words:

“This fault continues to the south of Hatay as the Dead Sea fault. There is an earthquake of up to 8 magnitudes in the direction of Syria, Lebanon and Israel, this fault is that fault. In other words, even the part inside our borders has not been completely broken yet.”
