New Change in YouTube’s Mobile App: Rounded Corners!
The change we previously saw on the web version of YouTube is now coming to mobile apps. Here are the details!
Google has been making a series of changes, big and small, to YouTube recently. Today, it looks like another one has been added.
Recently, the web version of YouTube got a redesign that switched from square corners to rounded corners in thumbnails and the video player, but the feedback from YouTube users was not very positive.
Now YouTube appears to be making the same change to videos on the YouTube Android app.

Since the rounded corners extend not only to thumbnails but also to the video player on the web, we can assume that this will also apply to the Android app. At the moment, the new look is visible to some testers, so it’s not clear if it will be rolled out publicly.
Currently on the YouTube website, for example, the rounded corners don’t appear when watching a video in full screen or in theater mode, but they return when you switch back to the default view.
