Netflix will be completely free

Netflix is reportedly considering its most radical subscription change yet. The digital platform is considering offering a completely free plan supported by ads.

Netflix tried the completely free plan option in Kenya but discontinued it last year. What the company is now considering is taking a big step forward by offering the free plan in much larger markets (e.g. Asia and Europe). According to Bloomberg, if the free plan is offered, it will be in countries such as Germany and Japan, not to mention the US, which is the main market where certain subscribers are captured.

Completely free Netflix, not possible any time soon

However, a completely free Netflix subscription does not seem possible anytime soon. Bloomberg’s sources state that this plan is currently only being discussed internally. It would clearly help the company maintain its momentum, especially in countries where low-income consumers cannot afford the service at current prices.

Netflix’s subscription with ads is not available in Turkey. Abroad, in addition to standard and premium subscriptions, an ad-supported subscription option is offered with various restrictions. Netflix Turkey prices are both quite high and the service provided for the price is very poor. The price of the basic plan is 120 TL and for this price, you are allowed to watch in 720p, which is years and years ago.
