NASA Announces: An Asteroid Will Approach Earth Tonight

A truck-sized asteroid will make a record-breaking approach to Earth tonight. The American Space and Aviation Administration (NASA) announced that the pieces released by the disintegration of the asteroid named “2023 BU” may hit the world as a meteorite. 2023 BU will also be one of the closest asteroids to Earth in the last 300 years.

The US Aerospace Agency (NASA) announced that the asteroid named “2023 BU”, which is the size of a pickup truck, will make a very close approach to Earth.

The asteroid “2023 BU” will pass 3,600 kilometers above the atmosphere in South America in the evening today.

SOME PIECES MAY FALL AS METERS

Scientists reported that the asteroid will come very close, but most of it will burn in the atmosphere and some large pieces may fall as meteorites.

The diameter of the asteroid is estimated to be between 3.5 and 8.5 meters.

Detected by amateur astronomer Gennady Borisov in Crimea, the asteroid’s trajectory is expected to change drastically due to Earth’s gravity.

According to NASA, the asteroid will enter an oval orbit that will last 425 days instead of orbiting the Sun every 359 days.
