Messenger Lite will be shut down in September
Meta has decided to close the Messenger Lite application, which was launched in 2016. The app, which offers all the basic functions of Messenger, will be out of service in September.
Facebook owner Meta is making several changes to Messenger. The company recently announced that by the end of 2023, everyone will have end-to-end encryption. Now, it has announced that Messenger Lite will be shut down in September.
It is reported that the application will be deprecated as of September 18. From this date, it will not be possible to chat, make audio and video calls. Messenger Lite has already been removed from the Google Play Store.

Chat history will continue to be available in Messenger. Users will now see a “Use Messenger to continue chatting” prompt when they open the app. This message will direct device owners to download the main version.
Announced in October 2016, Messenger Lite was initially aimed at low-capacity Android devices. Later it became available on all phones. It has become a favorite of many as it is a lightweight app that offers all the basic functions of the Messenger app.
