Kocaeli Kartepe’s 50-year cable car dream comes true
The cable car project realized by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Kuzuyayla Nature Park in Kartepe made a 50-year dream come true.
The project, which has been on the city’s agenda for a long time and seen as a dream by many people, has been completed by creating a cable car line that can see Izmit Bay and Sapanca Lake at the same time. The project draws attention as an initiative realized by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality with its own resources and making an important contribution to the city.
Kartepe Cable Car has a structure that reaches 1421 meters above the ground and is supported by 9 thousand 736 meters long steel ropes. Operating between Derbent and Kuzuyayla stations, the cable car offers a pleasant journey between the shades of green and blue. The cable car line, where 73 cabins of 10 people each serve, provides fast transportation with a capacity of 1500 people per hour.
Another striking feature of the project is that it has the highest mast in Turkey. The cable car, where 16 poles of different heights are used to avoid damaging the trees, will make a great contribution to the tourism potential of Kartepe.
In addition, with the works carried out in Kuzuyayla Nature Park, a center with picnic areas, restaurants, accommodation units and facilities for nature sports will be created in the region. With this project, Kuzuyayla will offer visitors a peaceful environment with its clean air and natural beauties.
