Musician Karsu Dönmez was selected as the woman of the year by Harpers Bazaar published in the Netherlands.
Dönmez became the face of aid in the Netherlands with her social responsibility projects during the Kahramanmaras earthquake in Turkey last February. Dönmez, who lost 17 members of her family living in Hatay in the earthquake, established the Karsu Foundation to provide long-term aid to earthquake victims in the region.
“Karsu’s inexhaustible energy and determination symbolize the power of humanity and love needed in the world,” Bazaar magazine said.
