ALIYEV OFFERED ONLY ONE CONDITION

Azerbaijan launched an anti-terrorist operation yesterday following attacks by Armenian forces in Karabakh. While the Azerbaijani army hit Armenian positions one by one, President Ilham Aliyev announced his only condition for the operation to end. “If the Armenian armed forces in Karabakh disarm and disarm, anti-terrorism measures will be stopped,” Aliyev said.

CEASEFIRE DECLARED

After the Armenian separatists announced their decision to lay down arms, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry announced a ceasefire. The ministry announced that an agreement was reached on the suspension of the anti-terrorist operation launched by Azerbaijan in Karabakh. A ceasefire was reached in Karabakh as of 12.00 p.m., 13.00 p.m. regional time.

AZERBAIJAN’S DEMANDS ACCEPTED

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry stated that the ceasefire agreement in Karabakh took place with the participation of Russian peacekeepers. The statement included the following details: “Taking into account the request of representatives of the Armenian residents of Karabakh through the Russian peacekeeping contingent, on September 20, 2023 at 13.00, an agreement was reached on the suspension of local anti-terrorist measures under the following conditions:

  • The Armenian armed forces and formations of illegal Armenian armed groups in the Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan lay down their arms, abandon their combat positions and military posts and are completely disarmed. The units of the Armenian armed forces leave the territory of Azerbaijan, the illegal Armenian armed groups are released.
  • In parallel, all weapons and heavy equipment are handed over.
  • The above-mentioned processes are coordinated with the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

At the proposal of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a meeting with representatives of the Armenian residents of Karabakh will be held in Yevlakh on September 21, 2023 to discuss issues of reintegration based on the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
