Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and Veronika Lemishenko meet at AKM
Ukrainian harpist Veronika Lemishenko will meet music lovers with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra at AKM on Friday, February 9. Lemishenko shared her excitement about her concert at Atatürk Cultural Center.
It has been a serious challenge for composers to compose concertos for instruments they do not play, and to write works that will be included in the repertoire of even masters in a field in which they are not even novices. Perhaps as a result of work that requires twice as much effort, courage and cooperation, these works can take their place among the leading examples of the literature, as we will hear in our concert.
In this week’s IDSO concert, L.A.Lebrun’s Oboe Concerto will be performed by Sezai Kocabıyık, a valuable member of our orchestra. Then, we will listen to A. Ginastera’s Harp Concerto, which he called “my most difficult piece” and which he was able to complete in nine years, performed by Ukrainian harpist Veronika Lemishenko.
In the second part of the concert, J. Haydn’s Farewell Symphony will be dedicated to those we lost in the earthquake that took place on February 6, one of the most painful days in the history of the Republic of Turkey, and will commemorate with deep sorrow this great disaster that we have never forgotten and hope to never experience again.
