Şile is located in the Anatolian side of İstanbul and underpopulated district of the city after Adalar. However, it is one of the districts with the largest surface area in İstanbul. The district is adjacent to Pendik, Gebze, Kandıra, Çekmeköy and Beykoz. It is on the Black Sea coast in the north east of the Marmara Region. The district is famous for its natural beaches.
