“Israel is stealing organs from Palestinian bodies” Gaza government demands investigation
The government in Gaza accused Israel of kidnapping Palestinian bodies and stealing their vital organs, and demanded the establishment of an independent international investigation committee.
In a written statement issued by the government’s Media Office in Gaza, it was stated that the dignity of the bodies of 80 Palestinians who were killed and confiscated after the Israeli ground operation launched on October 27 was disregarded.
The statement reminded that the bodies were received yesterday at the Kerem Abu Salim border crossing in the southeastern Gaza Strip and said, “After examining the bodies, it was revealed that the facial features of the martyrs were significantly altered. This is a clear indication that the occupation forces stole vital organs from the bodies of the martyrs.”
“The occupation has repeatedly repeated this crime (detaining the bodies) during the genocidal war. Previously, they stole the bodies of some martyrs by nabbing some graves in Jibaliya.”
Pointing out that Israel is holding dozens more bodies, the statement called for the establishment of an independent international committee on the abduction of Palestinian bodies and the theft of their organs.
The statement also reacted to the silence of international organizations operating in Gaza, such as the Red Cross Organization, against such brutal crimes committed by Israel.
Marwan al-Hams, the director of Abu Yusuf al-Najjar Hospital in Gaza, said that the United Nations (UN) informed them that about 80 bodies of Palestinians would be sent to the Gaza Strip.
“The bodies of dozens of martyrs arrived in a container. Some of the bodies were complete, some only had limbs. Some of the bodies were decomposed,” Hams said, adding that if the bodies were removed from the container in a densely populated area, they would emit a strong odor that could cause an epidemic.
Yesterday, Israel handed over about 80 bodies of Palestinians it had confiscated since it launched its ground operation against Gaza through the Kerem Abu Salim border crossing. The unidentified bodies were buried in Tel al-Sultan Cemetery in Rafah city in the south of Gaza.
