International Award To Atatürk Cultural Center!
Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), one of the landmarks of Istanbul, was selected as the "concert and theater center of the year" in Russia and received the international "BraVo" award
The 6th International BraVo Professional Music Award ceremony was held at the Bolshoi Theater (Grand Theater) in the capital Moscow. The program was attended by many local and foreign artists, as well as officials and Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgiç and his wife Betül Aksoy Bilgiç.
In addition to Russia, opera and ballet artists from Serbia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, China, Belarus, India, Iran, South Africa and Egypt received awards at the ceremony.
AKM, one of the symbolic buildings of Istanbul, which was reconstructed and turned into a monumental work, was also deemed worthy of the “concert and theater center of the year” award. At the award ceremony, a video was shown describing AKM’s world-class features.
Ambassador Bilgiç received the BraVo International Professional Music Award on behalf of AKM.
In his speech, Bilgiç pointed out that AKM is an architectural work engraved in the artistic memory of Istanbul and Turkey, and said that he was proud to be selected as the concert and theater center of the year by the jury members.
Reminding that the renovated center met with art lovers in 2021 with the opening ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Bilgiç said, “I believe that AKM, which is among similar stages around the world, fully deserves this award. AKM has the highest technological standards and is equipped to host all kinds of artistic performances.”
Bilgiç added that the award will also contribute to Turkey-Russia relations.
Istanbul AKM, which left its mark on Turkey’s artistic memory, was renovated and opened its doors to art lovers with its new face on October 29, 2021 with the participation of President Erdoğan.
Istanbul AKM, where the art units in Istanbul affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are located as resident institutions, welcomes art lovers with its 2,40-seat opera hall designed with advanced technological equipment, 781-seat theater hall, 410 square meter AKM Gallery and AKM Multi-Purpose Hall.
