Hunting Season Started in Turkey!

With the end of the hunting ban in the seas across Turkey, fishermen went to sea saying “Vira Bismillah”. Fishermen caught the first fish of the new season with the end of the ban.

Starting on April 15, the ban on fishing in the seas ended on September 1. Fishermen waiting for the ban to end prepared their boats and nets for the new season before September 1. With the end of the ban, fishermen went out to sea and caught the first fish of the season.

After the first hunt, the fishermen who went to the Gürpınar Fisheries Hall put the first crop on sale by auction method. The first anchovy of the season was bought at a price of 2 thousand 250 liras a case. Fishermen said that they foresee four types of fish to be caught in September: anchovy, bonito, horse mackerel, horse mackerel and sardine.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the fishermen on the radio from the fishing boat he boarded in Poyrazköy and wished them a prosperous season.
After his speech at the opening of the 2023-2024 fishing season in Poyrazköy, President Erdoğan boarded a fishing boat.
After chatting with the fishermen for a while, President Erdoğan then took the helm and addressed other fishermen on the radio.

Erdoğan said to the fishermen: “Dear brothers and sisters, we said ‘vira bismillah’. May this fishing season be abundant for you and our nation. Ya Allah bismillah.”

The fishermen who responded to President Erdoğan on the radio thanked him for his wishes.
With the end of the hunting ban at midnight, fishermen who set sail with boats from Kocaeli threw their nets into the sea at Gebze Topçular location.

The fishing will continue until the first light of the day and the fish will be taken to the port to be loaded onto trucks after being crated.

In Samsun, fishermen went to sea saying “vira bismillah” for the new fishing season that started tonight. Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir and some protocol members stomped horon at the ceremony organized at Canik Fishermen’s Shelter.
Governor Tavlı wished all fishermen an auspicious and prosperous season.

Samsun Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Sağlam stated that 350-400 thousand tons of annual fishing is done in Turkey and said, “Samsun ranks first in fish catching with 64 thousand tons in 2022. In the researches conducted so far, we estimate that we will have a season with anchovies, whiting and sprat, where bonito is not too much.”
