Historical Gaziantep Castle Demolished After 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake!

After the 7.7 magnitude earthquake, the epicenter of which was the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş and affected many provinces, the news came that the historical Gaziantep Castle was also destroyed. On the other hand, it was reported that the dome of the historical Şirvani Mosque, located next to Gaziantep Castle and known to have been built in the 17th century, collapsed. Gaziantep Castle was destroyed in the 7.7 earthquake! News continues to come after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that was felt in many provinces and where the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaras is the epicenter. Finally, there is news about Gaziantep Castle. While some of the bastions in the eastern, southern and southeastern parts of the historical Gaziantep Castle in Gaziantep’s central Sahinbey district were destroyed by the earthquake, debris was scattered on the road.

THE RETAINING WALL HAS BEEN DESTROYED

The iron railings around the castle were scattered on the surrounding sidewalks. The retaining wall next to the castle also collapsed. In some bastions, large cracks were observed.

On the other hand, the dome and eastern wall of the historical Şirvani Mosque, which is located next to the castle and is said to have been built in the 17th century, partially collapsed.
