Short History of Hakkari
From the documents obtained in the researches in the region and the names of the rocks found in the area, it was determined that the region was a settlement in prehistoric times, and that the Sumerians, Akkadians, Urartians and Assyrians lived for a long time, respectively. With the Ankara Treaty signed in 1926, Hakkari, whose five regions including Mosul are excluded from the national borders, gained the status of a province in the same year. It was attached to Van Province in 1933, and in 1936 it gained the status of a province again.
