Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council took a new decision that will be valid in public transportation for the megacity, where approximately 20 million people live. With the new feature coming to Istanbulkart, the balance will decrease to -15 TL. The decision will only be valid for personalized Istanbulkart holders.
A New Era Begins at Istanbulkart
The application, which was accepted at the June meeting of the IMM, will eliminate the panic of “I wonder if there is money on my card” experienced by Istanbulkart holders when getting on public transportation vehicles.
6,500 people who use public transportation during the day in Istanbul are faced with an “insufficient balance” warning. 62 percent of Istanbulkart owners who receive a warning load their balance, 13 percent do not top up at all, and 24 percent do not top up at all.
