Giant Changes are on the Way in Microsoft Office Applications: New Design and Fonts Coming!
Microsoft is preparing to introduce a series of new changes that will affect Office applications. Here are the details!
Microsoft is currently testing a new Office default theme that will roll out to all Microsoft 365 subscribers next month.
Microsoft has announced that it will refresh the default Office theme with the new Aptos font, a new colour palette, styles and a brand new design.
What Changes Are Coming to Microsoft Office?
Aptos, the new default font for applications such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel, will replace Calibri next month after more than 15 years. The font change will be combined with changes to the default style and colour palette used in documents.
The biggest changes to the colour palette include removing yellow and replacing it with dark green, and replacing one of the light blues with a dark teal colour. Microsoft plans to create better contrasts between shapes and lines in Office documents.
The default style in Word and Outlook is also being revamped to make them “easier to read, more professional-looking and easier to navigate”, according to Jess Kwok, product manager for Microsoft 365 applications.
Microsoft began testing these changes with Microsoft 365 Insiders in July and is preparing to roll them out to all users in September.
