Fuel tank of fighter jet crashes in Ankara
A drop tank (auxiliary fuel tank) from an F-4 fighter jet belonging to the Air Force Command fell into the open parking lot of the General Directorate of Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) in Çankaya district of Ankara. While there was no loss of life or injury in the incident, 3 parked vehicles were damaged.
In Ankara, the spare fuel tank of an F-4 aircraft fell on vehicles in the garden of the TPAO General Directorate.
While there was no loss of life in the incident, material damage occurred. The plane that took off from the Teknofest area safely returned to its base in Eskişehir.
In the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, “A part of the F-4 Fighter Aircraft belonging to the Turkish Air Force fell into an open parking lot belonging to TPAO for an unknown reason during its flight in the skies over Ankara. The aircraft landed safely in Eskişehir square. There were no casualties and no injuries in the incident. A detailed technical investigation is ongoing.”
