Eskisehir Is In Danger Of Very Severe Drought

The 3-month drought map published by the General Directorate of Meteorology has been published. It is noteworthy that most of Eskişehir is facing the danger of ‘very severe drought‘.

The General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has published the current drought maps throughout the country.

The drought situation of Eskişehir drew attention on the 3-month map prepared according to the Standard Precipitation Index (SPI) method.

Very Severe Drought

The SPI is basically obtained by dividing the mean precipitation difference over the specified time period by the standard deviation.

While Eskişehir was evaluated as normal and mild drought on the map covering the 6-month period covering August-January last year, it was evaluated as under the danger of “very severe drought” in the map prepared according to the last 3 months.

Very Severe Drought

According to the published map, it was determined that a large part of cities such as Konya, Afyonkarahisar and Ankara are in danger of “extraordinary drought”. It has been announced that there is no risk of drought in provinces such as İzmir, Aydın and Antalya.
