Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the 29th International Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival will begin on September 10 with the staging of the opera ‘Aida’.

Aspendos Antique Theater will host the festival, which will last until September 25. According to the news of AA, the festival will host five events this year, including two operas, a ballet, a stage cantata and a concert by the soloists of the State Opera and Ballet Directorates. The festival will start with the opera ‘Aida’, which will be staged by the Ankara and Antalya State Opera and Ballet Directorates.

Giuseppe Verdi’s opera about the impossible love between the Roman Commander Radames and the captive Abyssinian Princess Aida will be staged on Saturday, September 10 at 21.00. Vincenzo Grisostomi Travaglini directed the opera whose historical research was done by Ravivaddhana Monipong Sisowath.

Under the direction of conductor Raoul Gurineis and choirmaster Mahir Seyrek, the Antalya State Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Antalya and Ankara State Opera Ballet choirs will accompany the decor designer Ozgur Usta, the costume designer Gurcan Kubilay, the choreography by Sergei Terechenko and Giovanni Pirandello. lighting design.

The opera “La Traviata” will be staged by the Izmir State Opera and Ballet at the festival on September 14. Composed by Giuseppe Verdi and libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, the opera is staged by Carlos Vilan. Accompanied by the Antalya State Opera and Ballet Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Lungu and the Antalya State Opera and Ballet Choir, the soloists will convey the love of Alfredo Germont and Violetta. Orhan Oner Ozcan and Mahir Seyrek will be the choir conductors of the piece, whose decor design belongs to Kaan Guresci, costume design belongs to Gulay Korkut Dinc, and lighting design belongs to Mufit Ozbek.

On September 17, Istanbul State Opera and Ballet will perform the ballet “Don Quixote”, adapted by Aysem Sunal Savaskurt, choreographed by Marius Petipa and music by Ludwig Minkus. Antalya State Opera and Ballet Orchestra under the conductor Roberto Gianola will accompany the piece, in which Don Quixote and his assistant Sancho Panza witness the love stories of the beautiful Kitri and her barber lover Basil during a travel.

Stage cantata ‘Carmina Burana’ will meet the audience

As part of the festival, on September 21, Antalya State Opera and Ballet artists will perform the ‘Carmina Burana’ stage cantata. The soloists of Antalya State Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Antalya State Opera and Ballet Choir will be in front of art lovers under the direction of conductor Hakan Kalkan and choir conductor Mahir Seyrek in the work created by German composer Carl Orff. The festival will end on September 25 with the ‘Gala Concert’, under the conductorship of Andreas Solinas, where the soloists of the State Opera and Ballet will take the stage with the accompaniment of the Antalya State Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
