Celebrating The 112th Anniversary Of The Establishment Of The Turkish Air Force

The anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Air Force, which was established to prevent all kinds of threats and dangers that may come to the Turkish homeland and Turkish nation from the air, is celebrated every year on June 1 with various events.

The foundation of the Turkish Air Force, one of the world’s first military aviation organizations, was laid by the then Minister of War Mahmut Şevket Pasha, who saw the importance of aviation in the future.

The Turkish Air Force, which is one of the most respected institutions of the modern world aviation with its past experience, domestic and national defense technologies and strengthened infrastructure, continues its military aviation activities, which started on June 1, 1911, with outstanding success in line with Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s words “The future is in the skies”.

The “Turkish Air Force”, the steel claw of the Turkish Armed Forces in the sky, celebrates its 112th anniversary today.

On April 25, 2023, the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) shared photos of Turkish Air Force fighter jets making a salute flight over Istanbul as part of TEKNOFEST.

In June 2001, during the celebrations marking the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Air Force, the helicopter demonstration of Special Forces Command personnel attracted great attention.

On June 27, 2003, the Turkish Air Force aerobatic team “Turkish Stars” participated in an international air show in Zeltweg, Austria.

On September 25, 2005, the champion pilots of the 223rd Squadron in Kayseri, including First Lieutenant Gamze Aksakallı (pictured), won the first place for the Turkish Air Force in the European Tactical Air Transport and Commanders Symposium competitions.

The planes of the Turkish Air Force, which traveled 15 thousand kilometers from Konya to Alaska for the “Red Flag 2007 Training”, started to return on August 1, 2007.

On August 31, 2007, the Air Force Academy diploma ceremony and the flag handover ceremony were held.

On December 13, 2019, Hulusi Akar, then Minister of National Defense, General Yaşar Güler, Chief of General Staff, and General Hasan Küçükakyüz, Commander of the Air Force, attended the “Pilot Badge and Graduation Ceremony” held at the 2nd Main Jet Base Command in Çiğli.

On August 27, 2021, F-16 fighter jets flew together with a Polish C-295M Casa military cargo aircraft on an enhanced air policing mission at the 22nd Air Base Command in Malbork, Poland.

On April 23, 2022, SOLOTÜRK, the Turkish Air Force’s aerobatic team, performed a demonstration flight at the Anatolian Hamidiye Bastion in Çanakkale on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. The show was also watched along the promenade.

On October 18, 2022, ATAK attack helicopters developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) with domestic and national facilities took part in the “Fire Free- 2022” exercise, where the firepower of the Turkish Armed Forces was exhibited.

On May 19, 2023, Turkish Stars, the acrobatic team of the Turkish Air Force, and SOLOTÜRK performed a demonstration flight in Samsun within the scope of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day events.
