Keles is one of the smallest districts of Bursa city with 11.000 population and it’s one of the less-developed districts in Marmara Region.The town’s name probably comes from the name of Cleos, Kilos, in the ancient Greek colonies. Most of the people of the district earn their living from agriculture and animal husbandry. Among agricultural products, products such as strawberries, cherries, sour cherries, tobacco, chickpeas and anise constitute the most important source of income. Efficient agriculture is only done in Nilüfer Stream valley and Kocasu River valley. There is no industrial establishment in the district.
