America’s New Weapon is Ready: B-21 Raider Ghost Bomber
The Pentagon introduced the new nuclear stealth bomber B-21 Raider. The new weapon of the US military will replace the aircraft first used in the Cold War.
America’s newest nuclear stealth bomber, the B-21 Raider, is unveiled after years of covert development.
The World’s First 6th Generation Aircraft
The first new American bomber in over 30 years, the B-21 Raider is part of the Pentagon’s effort to modernize all three pillars of its nuclear triad, which includes silo-launched nuclear ballistic missiles and submarine-launched warheads. The US bomber will gradually replace the B-1 and B-2 aircraft that first flew during the Cold War.
Hard to Catch!
The B-21 Raider, which Northrop Grumman calls the world’s first sixth generation aircraft, is technologically much more advanced than the military jets in service today. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that no other long-range bomber could match the B-21’s capabilities. He also stated that even the most advanced air defense systems would have difficulty detecting the B-21.
Uses Cloud-based Digital Infrastructure
It was said that the aircraft was designed using next-generation stealth technology, so that it could not be detected even by advanced radars and air defense systems. Able to fly in full stealth mode every day, the B-21 Raider uses a cloud-based digital infrastructure that is cheaper and easier to maintain. The military will then be able to offer quick upgrades for individual parts to always protect against evolving threats.
6 Units in Production
It is known that there are currently 6 B-21s in production. The US Air Force is expected to order at least 100 of these aircraft. The cost of the bombers is unknown. The military will begin testing the stealth bomber in 2023.
