The production of the Altay tank, developed by BMC Defense, is finally completed. It is planned that the Altay tank will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces for testing on April 23, 2023.

The production of the tank was delayed because Germany imposed an embargo on the engine to be used in the ALTAY Main Battle Tank, which was produced as a prototype in 2014, and the Turkish Armed Forces had various demands. Various changes were made in the Altay tank project, which was continued by BMC Defense. New systems and new power pack integrated. The DV27K diesel engine produced by Hyundai Doosan and the EST15K transmission produced by SNT Dynamics are used in the new Altay tank.

Mass Production Will Be Started in 2025

It is planned to complete the production of 2 Altay tanks in April and to deliver them to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) for testing on April 23. Field tests to be carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces are expected to be completed in 2024. The Altay tank will begin mass production in 2025 with the Korean power group. Starting from the second half of 2026, the domestic engine will be integrated and mass production will continue with the domestic engine.

Serial Production Will Be Made in Ankara
