All movies are free! “On5Sıfır7 Film Week” begins…

The film week event organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will be in action on July 10-15. Films about coup, resistance and freedom; Beyoğlu 1948 will meet with the audience free of charge at Atlas Cinema, Zeytinburnu Culture and Art Center and Bağlarbaşı Congress and Culture Center.

Organized for the third time this year by the 15 July Association with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the “On5Zır7 Film Week” will meet with moviegoers between July 10-15.

Within the scope of the week, 20 films from world cinema with the theme of coup, resistance and freedom will be screened.

Speaking at the introductory meeting held at Naz City Hotel, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Batuhan Mumcu drew attention to the importance of the concept of memory as well as the themes of coup, resistance and freedom.

Mumcu stated that July 15 and other coups should never be forgotten and said, “Turkey gave a great test. In fact, we all passed this test.” said.

Mumcu, who stated that they will continue to support On5Zır7 Film Week as the Ministry, wished the program to be beneficial.

“If we want to keep it alive and transfer it to the future, we have to produce permanent works”

Dundar Ziya Gültekin, Secretary General of the 15 July Association, also emphasized that July 15 was a milestone in every sense and said:

As an association, it has become one of our goals to keep the spirit of July 15 alive and to convey it to the future and to keep it alive in the national memory. In this context, we have implemented many cultural and social projects so far. “On5Zero7 Film Week” is one of them. We wish this week to continue for many years and take a special and meaningful place in our culture and art world. Because, as an association, we are aware of the following; If we want to keep July 15 alive and transfer it to the future, we have to produce quality and permanent works. That’s why we give special importance to this week.

Most of the movies are based on true stories

İhsan Kabil, General Art Director of On5Zır7 Film Week, stated that they tried to prepare a wide selection from world cinema within the scope of the program, and that the productions were about military coups, colonialism, imperialism, colonialism, racial discrimination and violations of rights.

Stating that they also make film selections from Indonesia, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Iran and South Africa, Kabil stated that most of the films are based on true stories, and some of them feature documentary footage.

Iranian director Hüseyin Laleh, who was a guest of the introductory meeting, touched upon the 2022 film “Memories from the Occupation of Tabriz” to be screened at the event.

Beyoğlu 1948 starts at Atlas Cinema on July 10

The guests of honor of the On5Zır7 Film Week will be filmmaker Sadık Şir-Niyaz from Kyrgyzstan, Elhan Caferov from Azerbaijan, Hüseyin Laleh from Iran and Derviş Zaim from Turkey.

The event, which will be opened with the movie “Kurmanjan Datka” on July 10 at Beyoğlu 1948 Atlas Cinema, will host a panel titled “Freedom in Cinema: Secrets and Borders” at Zeytinburnu Culture and Art Center on July 12.

Within the scope of the program, films will be screened free of charge at the 1948 Atlas Cinema, Zeytinburnu Culture and Art Center and Bağlarbaşı Congress and Culture Center.
