There was an algae explosion in Çıldır Lake, the second largest lake in the Eastern Anatolia Region. The green-colored layer covering the surface of the lake became slime and mushy on the shores.

The rapid decrease in water resources, pollution and the extreme increase in temperatures bring the blue-green algae accumulated at the bottom of the lakes to the surface.

The color of the water in Çıldır Lake, the second largest lake in Eastern Anatolia, has turned green.

Citizens from the region who viewed the algae explosion in the lake said that a green layer covered the surface of the lake and its color became green as the water decreased.

The green color covering the surface of Çıldır Lake began to become slime and mushy on the shores.

Fishermen who threw their nets into the lake had difficulty in pulling their nets into the boat due to pollution.

Fishermen, whose livelihood depends on fish, said that they could not fish due to the algae bloom.
