Dear Sir/Madam
I am an Irish national living in Istanbul. I am married for 20 years to a Turkish national and am now applying for Turkish citizenship. My application was started in October 2016 and I am now awaiting news about it. My work permit has finished in March and I am thinking about going to Ireland in July, so what can I do if I have no residency permit or citizenship at that time? Also, is it a problem if my residency permit is no longer valid even though I am registered as having applied for turkish citizenship?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sheila Sert
Hello, a residence or work permit may be reqired until concluding your application of Turkish citizenship. If you will not live in Turkey anymore, you can follow your application in Turkish Embassy or Consulate in country where you live.
My mother was born in Izmir and I was born in the United States. I’d like to apply for and obtain dual citizenship, is there a link with the appropriate forms? Thank you.
Hello, if your mother has Turkish citizenship, it’s possible to apply for citizenship based on mother. But, she has not a citizenship, you can apply for Turkish citizenship if you meet the conditions ; residing in Turkey for 5 years or purchasing an house which has 1 million USD value, employing 100 people or providing 3 million USD deposit.
Hi,
Thank you so much for the valuable website and details.
Is there any limitation of rights for the exceptional citizenship. is it identical to normal citizenship.
As I can apply for exceptional citizenship now, but if I wait for 6 month I can apply for citizenship after a 5 years work permit.
Many thanks.
Hello, there is no limitation of rights for the exceptional citizenship and there are some advantegous parts of it temper to normal citizenship. If you meet the conditions, we suggest you to apply. Your foreign spouse and children (under 18 years old) can benefit from exceptional citizenship. The process continues more quickly because there is no need some documents (health report etc).

If you have a residence permit in turkey and you are a citizen of two different countries besides Turkish Citizenship with your spouse, and if the embassy in Turkey does not give your child citizenship, we recommend you to apply to the embassy of your state in Turkey. If your application is negative, you will be entitled to apply for Turkish citizenship at your place of birth by documenting this situation. For citizenship and residence permit, you can apply to the provincial governor in Turkey.
My late mother was Turkish citizen by origin, and my late father became Turkish citizen.
I found out that I am registered in Nufus, but I didn’t know about it till my mother passed away.
I have the documents that proof this.
What are the chances of me getting Turkish citizenship.
Thank you very much for your reply.
Ghazwan.
Hello, you’ve that your late mother is a Turkish citizen, and if you have registered, you have been registered with the notification of your mother. In this case you are already a Turkish citizen. The sample of the register proves that you are a Turkish citizen.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Greetings
I present my compliments to you and have the honor to inform you that I am iraqi living in jordan and I have few inquiries regarding the turkish citizenship and if I am in title to have or not:
My father ‘s grandfather was an officer at the ottoman army and used to have ottoman citizenship but due to war circumstances we lost most of our papers and documents so my question is can I apply for a citizenship or not and if yes how much does the case cost and the process time to get it?
My id proves that he is my grandfather and I have an old picture of him wearing his military uniform and standing between the soldiers. But still I need his old ottoman id from the official office in turkey and also he studied in Istanbul.
Your response and advice is highly appreciated
With much appreciation and kindest regards
Yours Sincerely,
Sarah Ramly
