Last week, WhatsApp rolled out chat lock to all devices on both Android and iOS. Now it is developing a secret code feature for the web version to bring additional security and privacy to messaging.
It was announced that the secret code feature is still in the testing phase and will be available with the WhatsApp Web update in the future.
Secret Code Feature Coming to WhatsApp Web
WhatsApp has taken action to expand the functionality of its chats not only on phones but also on the web. Working to provide enhanced privacy and security on all platforms, the company is improving users’ experiences with locked chats.
The secret code feature for locked chats, which is planned to come with a new update to WhatsApp Web, is currently under development. As you can see from the screenshot, you will be asked to enter a secret code to open the list of locked chats that previously came to mobile devices.
To protect user privacy and ensure that sensitive conversations are always secure, they will be protected via PIN. The feature can also be used to protect privacy for people who share desktop devices.
Different people who physically access the computer will be able to protect extra messages with a secret code.
