A 25% limit was imposed on asylum seekers.

With the Spatial Concentration Combat Plan put into practice; In 16 provinces, especially in Ankara and Istanbul, the ratio of refugees to the local population will not exceed 25 percent.

There are 3.7 million Syrians under temporary protection in Turkey.

This number reaches 5.4 million, including refugees from other countries of different status.

In order to protect the demographic structure of the population in Turkey, the “Combating Spatial Concentration” plan for temporary status asylum seekers was initiated by the Ministry of Interior.

Ghettoization will be prevented in 16 provinces
With the plan, ghettoization will be prevented in some neighborhoods or districts of 16 provinces where foreigners are concentrated.

THE DOMESTIC POPULATION WILL NOT EXCEED 25 PERCENT ACCORDING TO THE PRINCIPLES

In Combating Spatial Concentration, it is essential that the ratio of foreigners to the local population does not exceed 25 percent.

ASYLUM-SEEKERS IN DENSE REGIONS ARE SETTLEMENT TO OTHER PROVINCES AND DISTRICTS

If 25 percent of the neighborhood population is exceeded, 2 methods are followed.

Either these settlements are closed to foreigners or refugees in densely populated areas were voluntarily settled in different provinces and districts.

APPLICABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ANKARA ALTINDAĞ

The application was applied for the first time in Ankara Altındağ. Buildings unsuitable for habitation were demolished. Approximately 5 thousand temporary status asylum seekers moved from the district.

On the other hand, this application is expected to facilitate the coordination of security and public services. In addition, it is aimed to prevent social separation and ensure harmony.

DETAILS OF THE PROJECT

Hürriyet columnist Hande Fırat conveyed the details of the dilution project, which was announced

“to ensure that the Syrians do not deteriorate the demographic structure of the population in Turkey”.

  • Syrians are not allowed to become ghettos in a neighborhood or district.
  • The foreign population is not allowed to exceed 25 percent of the neighborhood population.
  • Two steps are taken in places exceeding 25 percent:

1- First of all, these settlements are closed to registration for foreigners. Again, in 16 provinces where the Syrian population is concentrated (Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Bursa, Çanakkale, Düzce, Edirne, Hatay, İstanbul, İzmir, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Muğla, Sakarya, Tekirdağ and Yalova), a total of 800 neighborhoods in 52 provinces are in Istanbul. Fatih and Esenyurt districts were closed to applications of all foreigners of all status.

2- In the second step, which is taken outside of registration, the Syrians in the settlements where there is a density are placed in different districts and provinces on a voluntary basis.
