World’s Largest Cruise Ship In KUŞADASI
The Italian flagged Sun Princess, one of the largest and newest cruises in the world, 345 meters long and weighing 175,500 grostons, anchored at Kuşadası Port in the morning.
Kuşadası district of Aydın, one of the important centers of cruise tourism, started the season fast.
With the cruise ship, which was launched this year and made its first voyage to Kuşadası, 3,745 tourists and 1,675 crew members, mostly US citizens, arrived in the city.
A ceremony was held in Kuşadası Port due to the ship’s first voyage to the city and tourists were welcomed by the Kuşadası Municipal Band and folk dances teams.
Sun Princess will make 3 more voyages to Kuşadası in 2024.
Mayor of Kuşadası Ömer Günel also boarded the ship with Kuşadası District Governor İbrahim Keklik and the accompanying delegation. Mayor Ömer Günel met with the CEO of the ship company John Padgett and Captain Craig Street and presented various gifts and a plaque of appreciation. President Ömer Günel walked around the cruise ship and received information from the managers and then took the helm with District Governor İbrahim Keklik.
Stating that they are very happy to be in Kuşadası, Padgett said:
Sun Princess is one of our newest and most technological ships. With our new ship, we made our first voyage to Kuşadası, the most important cruise port of the Mediterranean. I would like to thank you for welcoming us in a very nice and friendly way. We liked Kuşadası and the port very much.
