Twitch is testing a new TikTok-style feature
The popular social media application TikTok continues to influence other platforms. Finally, live broadcasting platform Twitch announced that it is testing a TikTok-like feature.
Twitch has become the latest technology company to try a TikTok-like content browsing method. The company is testing a feature it calls “discovery feed,” which shows clips in a new vertically scrolling feed. According to the statement, this feature has already started to be offered to certain users.
Twitch is getting TikTok streaming
The stream will show you clips from Twitch creators, but initially the clips will only be horizontal clips; Twitch says users will also see vertical clips “as the stream evolves.” The Discovery feed currently includes popular clips as well as “featured” clips. Creators can add their own clips to the “highlights” pool, where clips are also streamed. So which clips will be shown will depend on the broadcasters.
On the other hand, the desire to offer a TikTok-like format is not just for Twitch. In addition to Spotify and Amazon, YouTube and Meta platforms have already adapted the features of TikTok. Vertically scrolling video streaming isn’t the only feature coming to Twitch from other social media networks; The company also announced in July that it plans to bring “stories” to the platform. Twitch also announced the ability to export clips directly to TikTok last month.
