Turkish Space Agency President Serdar Hüseyin Yildirim’s Press Release for Earthquake Video Received

A speech by Serdar Hüseyin Yıldırım, who was appointed as the Head of the Turkish Space Agency in 2019 by the decision of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan, became the agenda again due to the interesting allegations it contained.

Turkish Space Agency President Serdar Hüseyin Yıldırım’s previous statements, “There are Warrior satellites that can send titanium alloy 10-meter sticks from space to any target they want to the world. They penetrate 5 kilometers deep into the ground and create an earthquake of 7-8 magnitude…” became the agenda again.

Turkish Space Agency (TUA) President Serdar Hüseyin Yıldırım’s press release regarding the videos that are on the agenda on social media has been published. In a written statement from TUA on the subject, it was emphasized that a short video excerpted from Yıldırım’s speech at the Institute of Strategic Thinking on November 4, 2021 was used out of context, and that a weapon system to be deployed in the earth system orbit would not cause a tectonic earthquake.

We wish God’s mercy on our citizens whose epicenter is Kahramanmaras and who lost their lives in the earthquakes in many cities, and we wish a quick recovery to our injured citizens.

As TUA, from the first moments of the disaster, with the help of our friends all over the world, our relief efforts, including the provision of satellite data and transmission to the relevant places, continue.

A short video excerpted from a speech delivered by our President, Serdar Hüseyin Yildirim at the Institute of Strategic Thinking on November 4, 2021, has been circulated out of context on social media. Unfortunately, there are statements and evaluations on the subject that go beyond its purpose.

Although our President, Mr. Yildirim, made a statement on the subject through his social media accounts, a further explanation was needed as it became more difficult to take a step towards the spread of disinformation in this process.

In the video in question, only the project studies of a weapon system that can be deployed in Earth orbit are mentioned. Although there is no information about the realization of this project, it does not have a function such as triggering fault lines or creating tectonic earthquakes. Therefore, it is out of question that it has nothing to do with the Kahramanmaraş disaster, which is a tectonic earthquake.

Now is the time for Turkey to heal the wounds together. The Turkish Space Agency continues to work diligently, with the strength it receives from our nation, for the future of our country, as it did yesterday.
