Tragedy Off Bodrum Coast: Migrant Boat Sinks, 7 Dead

A migrant boat capsized off the coast of Bodrum late at night, leaving at least seven people dead and two rescued as Coast Guard teams continue their search efforts.

A tragic accident occurred off Ortakent, a coastal area of Bodrum in Turkey’s Muğla province, when a boat carrying irregular migrants sank during the night. According to initial reports, seven migrants lost their lives, while two were rescued alive from the sea.

Coast Guard units launched a large-scale search and rescue operation immediately after receiving the distress call. Four Coast Guard boats, a Coast Guard diving team, and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene to assist with rescue efforts.


Search and Rescue Operations Continue

The two survivors, who were in danger of drowning, were rescued by Coast Guard personnel and brought safely ashore.

Authorities confirmed that seven bodies have been recovered so far. The operation to locate any remaining missing passengers is still ongoing in the area.

Officials have not yet released information about the migrants’ nationalities or the cause of the sinking, but investigations are underway.
